From large gatherings in Vancouver to hometown tributes in Port Coquitlam, the event unites people of all ages in a shared commitment to raising funds for cancer research.

Vancouver Terry Fox Runs

  • Stanley Park in Vancouver
  • Rocky Point Park in Port Moody
  • Hyde Creek Recreation Centre in Port Coquitlam

Other communities such as Coquitlam, Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge, Mission, North Vancouver, Delta, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Squamish, Whistler, and West Vancouver also participate, with some offering virtual options so supporters can take part from anywhere.

The Hometown Run in Port Coquitlam

The Terry Fox Run holds special meaning in Port Coquitlam, where Terry Fox lived and went to school. The hometown run is a particularly emotional and well-supported event each year, drawing participants who want to honour his roots and remarkable courage.

The Port Coquitlam run continues to be one of the most heartfelt gatherings in the region, celebrating both local pride and national inspiration. It takes place at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre each year.

The Stanley Park Run in Vancouver

The largest and most high-profile run in the region typically takes place at Stanley Park, starting near Second Beach. Thousands gather on the grassy fields and scenic seawall to walk or run various route options.

With ocean views, forested trails, and strong crowd support, the Vancouver event captures the powerful community energy that defines the Terry Fox Run across Canada.

About Terry Fox

Terry Fox was a Canadian athlete and humanitarian who became a national hero after attempting to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. Diagnosed with bone cancer as a teenager and forced to have his leg amputated, Terry began his Marathon of Hope in 1980, running thousands of kilometres on a prosthetic leg.

Although he was unable to complete the journey due to the return of cancer, his determination inspired millions. Since then, the Terry Fox Run has raised hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide for cancer research, continuing his dream of finding a cure.
